Cytos Biotechnology Ltd is a public Swiss biotechnology company engaged in the discovery, development and commercialization of a novel class of biopharmaceutical products known as Immunodrugs™. Immunodrugs™ are therapeutic vaccines intended for use in the treatment and prevention of common chronic diseases which afflict millions of people worldwide. With breakthrough innovation in immunology and biotechnology, the Company has built a diversified portfolio of product candidates addressing unmet medical needs. Six vaccine candidates are currently in clinical development. The programs are developed both in-house as well as in partnership with leading pharmaceutical companies (Novartis, Pfizer, Pfizer Animal Health). Our lead product candidate NIC002 for the treatment of nicotine addiction is in phase II development and has been exclusively licensed to Novartis in April 2007. For the vaccine candidate CYT006-AngQb for the treatment of hypertension, clinical proof-of-concept has been achieved in a phase IIa study. The immunotherapy CYT003-QbG10 for allergic diseases has also demonstrated clinical proof-of-concept in phase II trials. The vaccine candidate CYT004-MelQbG10, which targets malignant melanoma, is at an earlier stage of development and has delivered promising early clinical results with regard to safety and immunogenicity. The vaccine candidate CAD106 for Alzheimer’s disease, which is partnered with Novartis, has completed a phase I study and is being tested in phase IIa studies in Europe and the US.
Our business strategy involves focusing on the innovative and research-intensive part of the pharmaceutical value chain and partnering product candidates aimed at mass markets with leading pharmaceutical companies for late-stage development and marketing. At the same time, we intend to fully develop and market Immunodrug™ candidates targeting selected niche areas on our own.
Cytos Biotechnology's skilled and multinational team works in four different divisions: the Immunodrug™ research and lead generation group, the GMP (GMP = good manufacturing practice) product development group, the clinical and regulatory group, and management, administration & technical support.
