Cutting-edge research, expertise in vaccine technology and a versatile platform enable Cytos Biotechnology to pursue in parallel different Immunodrug™ programs addressing important chronic disease indications. Six product candidates are currently in clinical development. Clinical proof-of-concept has been established for three vaccine candidates in the indications hypertension, smoking cessation and allergy, and the program in malignant melanoma has advanced to a further phase IIa trial after encouraging initial results were obtained in 2007. The Immunodrug™ programs in smoking cessation and Alzheimer's disease are both partnered with Novartis, whereas the Immunodrug™ collaborations with Pfizer and Pfizer Animal Health focus on undisclosed human health and animal health applications.

NIC002 – a therapeutic vaccine for smoking cessation.
A phase I and a phase II clinical trial have demonstrated that NIC002 has a favorable safety profile and is generally well tolerated. It promoted and sustained long-term abstinence from smoking (up to 12 months) when high antibody levels were achieved upon vaccination.

CYT006-AngQb – a therapeutic vaccine for the treatment of hypertension.
As shown in a phase I and a phase IIa study, CYT006-AngQb is safe and well tolerated. CYT006-AngQb treatment led to a significant reduction in mean ambulatory day-time blood pressure in hypertensive patients. A particularly strong efficacy of the vaccine was observed in the early morning hours, a critical time of day when adverse cardiovascular events occur frequently.

CYT003-QbG10 – a novel immunotherapy for the treatment of allergy and asthma.
The clinical data obtained for CYT003-QbG10 to date indicate that the immunotherapy is safe and well tolerated. It further demonstrated efficacy and significantly reduced allergic rhinoconjunctivitis symptoms in daily life. |
